I imagine that a good hit with a hammer would dislodge most cement but there would likely be some that soaks into the grain. I have not seen the planks yet but I imagine that they would be covered in cement, splodges of paint and other stuff - as well as a strip of metal on the end. These, if suitable, would be used in a gasification boiler.
I have the chance to obtain a load of scaffold planks - and I mean a load - probably enough to heat my home for a year or two.
